And I've got just the thing for you, you know it's the examperiod, so I'll do about anything not to study, and watching movies is what I love the most to do. But actually my exam vs. movie/tvshows ratio has lowered a lot, I'm being a way better student, still worse than you, but fuck that shit!
So the first movie I saw was
I ♥ Huckabees, it's not new, it's from 2004, so how did I find this movie? Well, I'm a big
Wes Anderson fan and he uses
Jason Schwartzman a lot in his movies, so I checked out Jason's curriculum, I saw this movie, although not being a Wes Anderson movie, and when I saw the other actors like
Mark Wahlberg, who is just awesome,
Dustin Hoffman and
Jude Law, also often cool, I did not doubt for a minute, I wanted to see this movie. Let's begin with saying that I'm glad I saw this movie after my philosophy exam, because this movie will screw you up. The whole movie is soaked in questions about existentialism, transcendentalism, nihilism and synchronicity. Then they've put a Magritte-esque absurdity over the whole thing. It's wonderful, it makes you sick and happy at the same time, plus it's funny! Really funny, not laugh-out-loud funny as the cover says, but still really funny. It's wonderful and I mean it literally, it makes you wonder about your being, about everything. It'll keep you up at night, it's the lazy man's window to philosophy and existentialist doubts.

Next up is a more recent film, it's called
How To Lose Friends And Alienate People, that's a mouthful indeed. Let me begin with saying that
Simon Pegg is a fucking genius! The guy made the awesoooome movies
Shaun Of The Dead and
Hot Fuzz, funny as hell. But that was British humor, I always prefered their sense of humor. Now he stars in movies as Run, Fat Boy, Run and this movie, American movies... I was really scared for the results, and although some jokes were predictable, the movie had me smiling from the start all the way 'till the end, not only because it's funny, but because of its sweetness too. There were some laugh-out-loud moments and all credit goes to Simon for those, because it was pure British.
Kirsten Dunst is trickier actress, she is a godess in some films, and really sucky in others (Spiderman.). In this film she is marvellous, nothing more, nothing less. The other actors all contribute their part in what I found to be a charming movie,
Megan Fox wading through a pool is just a nice extra. And I almost forgot telling about the movie itself, well, Simon plays the role of an annoying reporter called Toby Young at the high-society magazine Sharps. It's based on the memoires of
Toby Young and his career at Vanity Fair. The only thing left for me to do is recommend this movie and give you the soundtrack, yay!

Then I also saw
Burn After Reading, but this review will be a lot shorter, it's pure shit. I don't know where they went wrong with actors as
John Malkovich and
Brad Pitt, but they did. In my opinion the
Coen Brothers lost a lot of their wit. This movie is dull, unoriginal and just not funny. Everthing is so fucking easy and Hollywood, it makes you sick. The only actor that did a good job, and by that I mean he could act, and not only that he was kinda funny too, is
Richard Jenkins, I know! Not even a real star! Oh, and btw
Tilda Swinton makes me puke! This movie should be burned before viewing!
Oh, and I also saw the movie
Spaceballs, which is a classic, it's a parodie on the original Star Wars trilogy, it features that comedic sense of the 80s and of course all the comics of that period. Funny, and every Star Wars fan should have seen this.
Ik ben naar het ballet geweest deze week, gelukkig werden ik en Pieter geaccompagneerd door Sally en Silja, zodat we gesofisticeerd en intelligent leken in plaats van..nouja, je weet wel. Ik wou al langer eens naar het ballet gaan kijken, maar daar had ik nooit de kans toe. Maar omdat Pieter een kunstrichting doet, beinvloedt dat ook aan wie rond hem is en krijgen we allen wat meer cultuur. En dus zou een voorstelling van het zwanenmeer zeker niet te missen zijn. Het was zeer interessant, de muziek was prachtig en het blijft verbazingwekkend wat die mensen met hun lichaam kunnen. Eén opmerking blijft toch dat de tutu's van de mannen hetzelfde zou mogen zijn als van de vrouwen, want bij de vrouwen kroop het niet op ongewilde plaatsen, terwijl sommige mannen hun collant net opgeschilderd was..nou ja, voor de rest was alles in orde, zeer aangenaam. En zulke uitstapjes doen je ook beter voelen dan het gepeupel. Ohja, het was ook de eerste keer dat ik voorbij Brussel reed, en dat was me ook wel wat. Het lukte me nog goed, maar in het terugkomen had ik het toch wat moeilijk en belanden we ergens in Wallonië, achja iedereen moet leren!
