Sukiyaki Western Django!

Normally I'm not a big fan of westerns, I don't need some John Wayne or Billy The Kid bullshit... Ok, the gunfights are cool, but way too often it's a very slow built-up to the great duel. Well, you don't have that problem in this movie, it's action packed, there's not one boring moment! This movie rules! Oh, And the cowboys in this movie are not some boring Americans, but..Japanese! In fact the only American in this movie is Quentin Tarantino, and he's a God! So that also speaks for this movie, and on top of all that the Japanese cowboys speak this awkward English which makes it all even better. At the end of the ride Sukiyaki Western Django was an exhiting, funny hommage to classic westerns!

See Quentin and the beautiful imagery: (no spoiler)

See the cool duel at the end: (spoiler alert)

P.S. It's for this kind of movies I'm glad we have digital tv now...

The Wimpy Kid!

In Leuven is this REALLY cool comic bookstore and I just love to go there last year, cuz it was really close to the record store. And I bought some cool books there, and then near the end "Diary Of A Wimpy Kid" caught my eye, but I didn't have any money at that time, and when I came back with the money the book was gone! But now after months of waiting my friend Lennert went and got it for me, and I just love it, it's a book with pictures, that takes me back!

The book is about a boy in middle school, who has a big brother that picks on him, a baby brother that annoys him, a retarded best friend, and all the while he's trying to be a normal teenager, so flirting with girls, keeping the parents and teachers happy, it's all in the book but with a fun twist. Because the wimpy kid just isn't that lucky...

Now I found out, the book I have is actually a sequel, and a third part is coming out soon, so I'll want those too...

You can read it here.

Here are a few excerpts to get an idea:

I'm From Barcelona?

My school gave me three tickets to go watch I'm From Barcelona, and knowing that my friends liked them I went. But let me just say, I really don't like them, they're way too happy and stuff. But hey, everything for your friends...right?

The opener was No And The Maybes, which weren't that bad, but still not my cup of tea. Afterwards was headliner I'm From Barcelona, they started off with what I can only assume are no songs which were kinda cool, and then they built their party... Now I can keep bashing them, but I must admit I was charmed by the whole spectacle. You can only be happy when waves of confetti and giant balloons are thrown into the crowd. They played their singles and it was kinda good, I had one of the balloons but some asshole threw it away! I was sad and well, that's all...

Time for Music And Videos!

Let's begin with the good ol' Kaiser Chiefs:

I like the sketch of this Consequence song, and therefor I like the song, but I don't like him:

Cansei De Ser Sexy rules, don't you think so? Move!

This song by Armand Van Helden talks about sexy asses, and that's about everything you'll see in this clip, but you won't see me complainin'.

More and more electro formations are making videos, and they're often very creative, just like this one of Wake Up by Les Petits Pilous:

And Mr.Hudson with There Will Be Tears live:

And then some classics, well not really classic like really old shit but just not really new and fucking amazing...
H To The Izzo, Jay-Z makes another but the amazing thing is Kanye was the producer of this song and he features in the vid, at the end showing his tats:

And to finish a song I just LOVE, The Strokes with Last Night:

The Uglysuit!

Of ondraaglijk.

Kanye Glows In The Dark!

Friday I saw Kanye West LIVE!! A dream come true, ok, actually I already saw him once 3 years before at Werchter, but this is his show, this is KANYE WEST!!

Ok, so Ann-Sofie, who's like the only person I know that adores Kanye almost as much as I do, and I entered Vorst Nationaal. And because Santogold opened we sat down for a while, but suprise, surprise when it wasn't Santogold that came on stage but Consequence, a rapper I don't particularly like, but hey, I like surprises and more came when Mr. Hudson, the newest addition to Kanye's label, jumped on stage and gave us all a really cool performance. Afterwards Santogold showed up and she was pretty cool, the first three songs were just great and from then on only her really cool dancers kept it interesting.

Consequence - Job Song (zSHARE)
Mr. Hudson - There Will Be Tears (zSHARE) ***
Santogold - Shove It (zSHARE)

Then the room got dark and we were travelling through hyperspace, but 'Ye's spaceship was in trouble and crashed on this weird, unknown planet, "WAKE UP, MR. WEST!" and the show started! Kanye kept going through is whole repertoire with ease and amusement, everything fitted and was just heaven! While wearing his cool space uniform he led us from one hit to the next, often with a cool little act, people ask me what was best? Everything was just the best ever! All other artists will only fail when competing with Kanye. This show proved it. (BTW +respect for Kanye cuz he covered Journey's Don't Stop Believing, which is without doubt world's awesomest rock ballad)

Brandon Flowers' Tux!

GQ: HOW TO BUY A TUX with Brandon Flowers

From: GQ

HOW TO BUY A TUX

That’s right, buy. Because unless you’re rolling in a white stretch limo to the prom, renting should no longer be an option. Brandon Flowers of The Killers wades his way through a sea of formalwear options so you’ll know exactly what to invest in.

Photographs by Paola Kudacki

Somewhere along the line, a tuxedo went from being the most majestic piece in a man’s wardrobe to something that he had to wear. As in, “Yeah, dude, I gotta wear a tux to this wedding next weekend.” You know what? Quit your carping. The fact is, you’ll never look better, more manly—more gentlemanly—than in a tuxedo.
Of course, first you’ve got to get the right tux—i.e., your own. (And why not? Think about it: Each time you rent one, you’re dropping a hundred bucks or so and schlepping back and forth from the rental joint for a suit that doesn’t even fit you well. It makes sense to buy.) But before you invest, you’ll need to ask yourself some questions. Like, “Am I a peak-lapel guy or a shawl-collar guy? Bow tie or long tie?” When all is said and done (and tailored and hemmed), the thing should fit like a goddamn suit of armor—the shoulders sharp as a Ginsu, the shirt blindingly white, the tie black as crude oil. It’s a simple equation that instills confidence. And it’s one that will never, ever go out of style.

1. Start with the Basics

Black tux, white shirt, black bow tie (yes, bow tie—they’re back in a big way). There’s nothing quirky or dangerous about this outfit, and that’s okay. Opting for a classic doesn’t make you a square; it makes you a gentleman.

Tuxedo, $2,890, by Burberry Prorsum. Shirt, $495, by Dior Homme. Bow tie, $170, by Burberry. Shoes, $590, by Salvatore Ferragamo. Pocket square by Brooks Brothers.

Keep It Slim

At some point in the evening, you’re going to toss the jacket. Make sure you’re wearing a slim-fit shirt that won’t blouse out pirate-style by the time you’re leading “Livin’ on a Prayer” choruses.
Tuxedo, $2,890, by Burberry Prorsum. Shirt, $495, by Dior Homme. Bow tie, $170, by Burberry.

2. Go Blue

Okay, but let’s say you want to look a little different from every other guy at the party. Fine. This does not mean pulling on the distressed jeans and cowboy boots with your dinner jacket. (Only Ralph Lauren gets to do that.) A midnight blue tux strikes an alternative—but still classic—note, without getting all Grammy Awards. Generally, wear one with a white shirt and black tie. Unless you want to look all…Grammy Awards, in which case you can do like Brandon and go for a black formalwear shirt, open at the collar. Look for other versions by Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Neil Barrett, and D&G.

Know Your Lapels: Notch

When in doubt, go with a notch lapel. Less of a statement than a shawl or a peak, it essentially mimics a conventional suit jacket and looks right on just about anyone.
Tuxedo, $4,150, by Gucci. Shirt, $790, by Gucci. Boots, $795, by Yves Saint Laurent. Cuff links by Brooks Brothers.

Your Wristwatch

You’re going to a black-tie event, not deep-sea diving. Leave the dual-compass waterproof rock at home. Instead, opt for a slim, unadorned timepiece with a black leather band. A formal watch should keep time, not flash it.
Coach, $358; Chopard, $10,690.

3. Rock the Velvet

Note: velvet jacket—not suit. Like a midnight blue tux, velvet adds flair to your formalwear. Black is your safest option, but if you’re not afraid to play it up, look for one in bottle green, burgundy, or navy. Just keep the rest of the outfit simple, from the pants to the shirt to the tie.

Know Your Lapels: Peak

The original tuxedo, which debuted in 1886 in Tuxedo Park, New York, featured a peak lapel. Wear with pride.
Blazer, $1,446, by Neil Barrett. Shirt, $241, by Neil Barrett. Bow tie, $60, by Paul Stuart. Jeans, $270, by Just Cavalli. Shoes, $760, by Church’s. Pocket square by Paul Stuart.

4. Master the White Dinner Jacket

The white dinner jacket—worn always with black tux pants—is part Old Hollywood (Bogart), part rocker (André 3000). Although not exclusively for summer, it’s best worn from March to October—or whenever they’re serving mint juleps.

Know Your Lapels: Shawl Collar

It had its heyday in the ’50s, worn most famously by James Dean, but it has surged back into fashion of late. Just be sure to keep the collar on the slim side.
Tuxedo jacket, $698, by Tommy Hilfiger. Shirt, $148; bow tie, $58; and pants, $250: all by Tommy Hilfiger. Shoes, $1,100, by Louis Vuitton.

One Tux, Two Ways

Maybe not the look to break out at your sister’s boathouse nuptials, but a tux with a T-shirt is the way to go for a backyard wedding where the DJ is the groom’s iPod.

Tuxedo, $1,250, by Dolce & Gabbana. T-shirt, $295, by Dolce & Gabbana. Sneakers, $500, by Dior Homme. Pocket square by Brooks Brothers. Necklace and watch by David Yurman.

One Tux, Two Ways

The Clark Gables and Cary Grants of the world would scoff, but the long tie has—for better or worse—become part of the formalwear canon. Just make sure it syncs up with the width and material of your lapels. So, satin lapel, satin tie.

Tuxedo, $1,250, by Dolce & Gabbana. Shirt, $350, and tie, $175, by Dolce & Gabbana. Shoes, $590, by Dior Homme. Pocket square by Robert Talbott.

Your Links and Studs

The suit is the main attraction, not the bling. So keep your cuff links and studs relatively understated. Especially the studs, which are always on display. Much as you might like them to be a conversation piece, that’s not their function.

Baade II, $725 (for set).

The Colored-Shirt Option

Try a pale pink or dusty blue shirt like this one, just a few shades from white. It’s a way to mix things up a bit without discarding tradition.
Shirt, $595, by Jay Kos. Bow tie, $90, by Phineas Cole at Paul Stuart. Cuff links by Paul Stuart.

Your Footwear

This should be obvious, but here goes: black tie, black shoes. The simpler the better. So no wingtips or monkstraps. Stick with basic leather-soled lace-ups or slip-ons. And if you’re feeling extra fancy, go for patent leather—just not the dainty kind that look like they belong in a Bob Fosse musical.

Top to bottom: John Varvatos, $498; Salvatore Ferragamo, $590; Yves Saint Laurent, $450.

Swank

Everything from the Batman-esque peak lapels to the velvet bow tie is designed to evoke old-school masculinity. You can almost smell the Montecristos.

Tuxedo, $6,840; shirt, $1,360; bow tie, $190; stud set, $2,500: all by Tom Ford.

Modern

This minimalist, understated take on a two-button tuxedo will ensure that you’re appropriately well suited for absolutely any formal occasion.

Tuxedo, $1,195; shirt, $275; tie, $100: all by Calvin Klein Collection.

And Try DRUGS!

TRY DRUGS!

The safest way to get high... see how you'd be as a junkie!

I LOVE TECHNO!

I went to I Love Techno saturday, only the greatest party of the year! Even though I was tired while going there, once the Ed Rec All Stars, So Me, Mehdi, Busy P and I think SebastiAn, started playing I was ready to PARTY! It was all, it had to be, and when I came home exhausted and deaf I couldn't believe it was already over!
Now the HEROES of the evening were Bloody Beetroots. They played a fucking great set, and build a magnificent party. At the end they throwed their headset and towel, the towel landed just next to me, and 20 guys jumped eachother for it, I think they're still fighting.

The Bloody Beetroots - I Love The Bloody Beetroots (zSHARE)

Their only real competition was brought by Dj Mehdi, the coolest dj around cuz he is SOMEBODY! His set was the most interesting and funnest, nobody left the room dry, sweat was everywhere! Listen to the beginning of his set, even if you don't like the musicscene, you just can't hate this...

Mehdi @ ILT 2008 (Stubru Part) (Megaupload)

And the song that ruled the whole event was Dance In Dark by The Proxy, almost everyone played it and who can blame them, it's awesoooome!
