Secret Machines!

I went to a Secret Machines concert on monday, it was kinda cool. It was played in the only room of the Botanique, that I hadn't been in. The opening act sucked though, the guy couldn't remember his lyrics and his attempts to get the crowd going failed miserably.
Secret Machines on the other hand were flaming from the start, Lightning Blue Eyes is such a cool song, in the middle they cooled it down a bit, and for the encore they rocked it out!

AEon..

Zaterdag naar een toneel geweest in het Kaaitheater. Het stuk heette AEon en het werd mij beloofd dat het cool zou zijn.. Dat was het dus niet. Het stuk was waardeloos, je kon niet gaan zitten en het hele idee was nogal onorigineel. Zogenaamde experimenteel theater was eigenlijk nogal voor de hand liggend en niet echt speciaal. De zaal en scene vielen best nog mee en ze hadden er zeker meer mee kunnen doen, dit optreden had nog kunnen tof zijn tijdens een concert van een of andere goth, rock, minimal, experimental,... muziekgroepje. Maar op zijn eigen was het nogal mager. Het zou ook normaal eng hebben moeten zijn, maar dat was het niet! En het stuk duurde maar een halfuur, zonde van de kosten dus.

Waanzin en oude goden

Regisseur Stef Lernous van Abattoir Fermé en de jonge componist Daan Janssens werkten met twee jonge zangeressen en twee muzikanten aan een onderzoeksproject dat vertrekt van het oeuvre van H.P. Lovecraft en dat baadt in een sfeer van chaos, mistroostigheid, waanzin en oude goden. Lovecraft is bekend om zijn kortverhalen, poëzie, essays en manifesten en is een van de ‘grootouders’ van de moderne sciencefiction en horror. Hij verzon de ‘kosmische horrorliteratuur’ en schreef de mensheid een gruwelijke wereld tegemoet. In zijn Cthulhu Mythos voert hij een pantheon aan goden/monsters op die de mensheid tot op de rand van de waanzin brengen om dan ‘hun’ aarde opnieuw op te eisen. Lovecraft zelf leed aan zogenaamde ‘Night-Terrors’, nachtmerries terwijl je wakker bent.

CHROMOTHERAPY

The contents of this luminous installation are based on concepts of chromotherapy. A beneficial light is diffused on this support LED of 6,65 m2. From one duration of approximately 2 minutes, the whole is presented in the form of a sequence of beaches of luminous animations.
